The Carlo Scarpa Photographic Library is a project of the Centro Internazionale di Studi di Architettura Andrea Palladio, promoted and financed by the Regione del Veneto as part of the work of the joint study committee for promoting and raising awareness of the cultural legacy of Carlo Scarpa and his presence in Veneto.
The Carlo Scarpa Photographic Library is a cognitive iconographic system aimed
at collecting visual documentation of the architect’s constructed works and making this
available on the web (mediateca.palladiomuseum.org/scarpa), for purposes of research, conservation and
appreciation. It documents the original condition and construction processes,
the changes over time and the current state, documented by a systematic photographic
campaign carried out between 2004 and 2006 on the still existing structures.
The Carlo Scarpa Photographic Library is a tool for the study and restoration of Carlo Scarpa’s work, a precious iconographic resource that is the object of specific studies and promotional initiatives (publications, exhibitions, seminars). It could in future be combined with other cognitive systems relating to the original graphic materials, the archive documentation and survey results.
